September 2026
48th Mountaineer Folk Festival
Over a hundred craft vendors, two music stages, blacksmithing and sorghum milling. Five dollars suggested at the gate, free shuttle from the lot. Runs through Sunday the 13th.
Blooms, Bluegrass & BBQ
Sanctioned barbecue competition and bluegrass on Main Street. Friday noon to 8, Saturday 10 to 8. One of the bigger draws in the valley.
Savor Dayton
MainStreet Dayton’s tasting event, 5:00 p.m. Local kitchens set up downtown. Easy walk from the courthouse square.
October 2026
Heads up: Saturday the 3rd stacks up. Three fall festivals run the same day within an hour of the park, in Dayton, Pikeville and Etowah. Fort Bluff in Dayton is the closest to us by a good margin.
Funky Monkey Glow Run
5K and one mile, run after dark with a start at 8:00 p.m. Registration is online ahead of time.
Fort Bluff Fall Festival & 50th Anniversary
Hayrides, pumpkin painting, vendors and bluegrass from 10 to 4. Magic and comedy at 4, then an UNSPOKEN concert 6 to 8. The closest thing to us that weekend.
Pikeville Fall Festival, 40th Year
Main Street vendors, artist demonstrations and a free kids’ zone, 11 to 4. Note Pikeville runs on Central time, so that is noon to 5 by our clocks.
Etowah Fall Festival
Harvest festival on the grounds of the historic depot, both days. Worth the drive if you want to make a day of the railroad history too.
Pumpkintown
Two hundred plus vendors, three stages, the Mutt Strutt and a PowWow, 10 to 5. Free to walk in. The biggest fall festival in this part of East Tennessee.
Rocktober Fest
Second year. Live music on the water, vendors and food trucks. A good one to pair with a lake afternoon.
Pumpkin Fest
Two days on the courthouse lawn starting at 10 both mornings. Halloween weekend downtown, and the courthouse itself is worth the stop.
Sweetwater’s Historic Halloween
Downtown trick-or-treat and street event from 5:00 p.m. Bring the kids in costume.
November 2026
Sh-Boom! A Christmas Miracle
Mainstage holiday musical, rated PG, running Fridays and Saturdays through December 19. One of the largest professional theatres in rural America and an easy evening out.
Sweetwater Veterans Day Parade
Steps off at noon.
Holiday Stroll
Evening shopping stroll downtown from 5:00 p.m. Quiet, local, and the easiest holiday outing on this list.
It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
Adventure Theater production, rated PG, weekends through December 20.
Fall Creek 100
50K, 100K and 100 mile ultras touring the park’s waterfalls and suspension bridges. Gun goes off at 6:30 a.m. Good spectating even if you are not running.
Small Town Christmas
Tree lighting and the downtown holiday opening, 5:00 p.m.

Christmas at the Courthouse
Lights, carols, an artisan craft market and a non-motorized parade at the historic courthouse, from noon. The best Christmas evening in the county and fifteen minutes from your site.
June 2027
National MooFestExpected
Athens’ long-running dairy festival, traditionally the first Saturday of June. Expected date, not yet published by the organizer.
July 2027
Smokin’ the WaterExpected
Kingston’s July 4 barbecue and fireworks event on the water. Held on the holiday each year.
Scopes Trial Play & FestivalExpected
Dayton reenacts the 1925 trial in the original courtroom, with a street festival around it. Traditionally the third weekend of July. Expected dates, not yet published.
Why January through May look empty. Small-town organizers around here publish two to four months out, not a year. Nothing is missing; it simply has not been announced. This page is rebuilt every week from what the organizers have actually posted, so those months fill in as the dates land.
Announced but not yet confirmed by the organizer: Spring City Autumn Festival at Veterans Park, listed for October 2 to 3 by Rhea County Tourism. Christmas parades in Spring City, Kingston, Harriman, Athens and Etowah have not posted 2026 dates yet. These towns usually announce in late October, and we will add them here as they are published.
